Watch: Breathtaking video shows Germany's Nato Eurofighter jets soaring over Iceland's smouldering volcanoes
Breathtaking footage has captured Nato Eurofighter Typhoon jets flying over the smoking and bubbling volcanoes of Iceland during Exercise Rapid Viking.
The captivating video shows the jets soaring above smouldering volcanoes as they fly over the barren landscape of the North Atlantic island country.
Six German Eurofighters, two A400M transport planes, and 50 personnel were stationed at Keflavik air base, where they were flying up to eight practice flights a day.

The Rapid Viking exercise, which is organised by Nato's Control and Reporting Centre, in the southwest of Iceland, is to increase German aircrews' knowledge of Iceland's airspace and flying in arctic conditions.
"Captivating glimpse of Rapid Vikings 23! Eurofighters own the skies above Iceland, framed by majestic volcanoes. NATO is ready to deter & defend #WeAreNATO," Nato Joint Force Command Brunssum wrote on social media with the video of the jets flying below.
Lieutenant Colonel Marco Brunhofer, the commander of the German Eurofighter detachment, said: "The changed global security situation has had impacts on the High North, and against this background, the German Air Force makes a valuable contribution to Icelandic security and sovereignty and alliance deterrence and defence.
"Air forces are first responders and need to be able to swiftly and efficiently project air power. With the deployment under Rapid Viking, we generate a maximum operational footprint with minimum personal and material resources."
In the High North, the jets worked with the Icelandic Coast Guard and regional allies for 10 days at the start of August.
The Luftwaffe previously went to Iceland 11 years ago for Nato's peacetime air policing mission.
