Who's the strongest of them all? Forces Strongman stars show off pulling power in competition
Forces Strongman stars have competed in the latest endurance event at the Defence School of Transport in Leconfield.
Personnel stepped up a gear in this competition as they pulled military vehicles ranging from two tonnes up to 18-and-a-half.
Competitors continued to push the sport to new heights, pulling iconic Land Rovers and other logistic vehicles at the training location.
It was a woman who broke two new records on the day in a fight for the title, as Warrant Officer Class 1 Sheridan Lucas smashed the 15-metre pull in just 18 seconds – hitting a new forces record.
The competition was judged by two big names in the strong men and women world, England's second-strongest woman, Holly Ford, and Britain's strongest man for 2023.
"People are making it now to include the women and that feels so special because, when I first started, it was all 'the only log we've got is this, you're going to have to learn to press it'," said Holly.
While Forces Strongman has come a long way, it’s still not an official forces sport but organisers hope by next year's event, it will be under an official title.
"We have submitted our applications and we've received some really thorough feedback which has given us a lot to get on with.
"Hopefully, this time next year, at this event in Leconfield in October 2025, I will be standing here talking to you about a recognised sport," Captain Luke Heppenstall, Forces Strongman secretary said.
