North Korea has confirmed it carried out its third test of a new 'super-large' multiple rocket launcher.

The state claims the weapon enables it to destroy enemy targets in surprise attacks.

The country's Korean Central News Agency made the announcement after South Korean and Japanese officials said they detected unidentified weapons launched from the north into the Sea of Japan.

It is the latest in a series of weapons displays by Kim Jong Un's regime in the past weeks.

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab tweeted: "The UK is concerned about the latest North Korean ballistic missile launches - in clear violation of the UN Security Council resolutions.

"North Korea must end this reckless brinkmanship and take meaningful steps towards denuclearisation.

In recent weeks, the North fired its first underwater-launched ballistic missile in three years.

Korea has also expressed frustration over the slow progress of nuclear talks with the US, and demands the Trump administration eases pressure on Pyongyang.
