Military dogs prove their bark isn't bigger than their bite on Arctic training with Royal Marines

Military dogs have been put to the test in the Arctic, deploying to Norway with Royal Marine Commandos.

It is only the second time the military has taken dogs to the region, but by accompanying the commandos on long patrols across the unforgiving terrain, the dogs could pick up on potential threats quickly.

One of the dogs, Keizer, can pick up the smell of a human from 600m away and then, if needed, stop them in their tracks, as the video above shows.

Just like their human counterparts, the dogs need specialised equipment to operate in sub-zero temperatures, including socks, shoes, coats, goggles and ear protectors.
