The Military Can Stay At This Prestigious London Club Where A Pint Costs Just £3

Staying at hotels in prestigious areas of London can prove costly but did you know there is a gem in the heart of the capital that offers exclusive membership, first-class facilities and exceptional value for money – solely for former and serving members of the Armed Forces?

The Victory Services Club (VSC) – which hosted its patron-in-chief Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and Strictly Come Dancing star Len Goodman for the British Dance Council's (BDC) 90th Anniversary celebrations earlier this month - offers accommodation, dining and respite for serving and former serving members of the Armed Forces.

The Victory Services Club was founded in 1907 by Major Arthur Haggard who had a clear mission: to promote ‘esprit de corps’ within the military, after he witnessed destitute veterans on London’s streets after returning from the Second Boer War.

Today, the VSC is the only military club in London to offer membership solely to serving and former serving personnel of all ranks and their families, and the equivalent groups from the Commonwealth and NATO. Membership for former serving personnel is just £30 a year and free for serving personnel.

The VSC has 202 bedrooms and nine accessible bedrooms with all the amenities you would expect in any great hotel.

The club has two restaurants serving an array of fresh food, a Lounge Bar where you can enjoy a pint of Victory Ale for just £3, or sample the VSC’s very own gin, a coffee bar and the newly refurbished Navy Lounge, the perfect spot for afternoon tea.

The club has undergone an extensive refurbishment programme in the last four years.  This work was addressed in three phases. 

The first saw the complete refurbishment of the club’s dining facilities and the ground floor kitchen. 

The second phase comprised the total refurbishment of the banqueting kitchen and the El Alamein and Trafalgar Rooms, which are two large event rooms used by military charities and associations for conferences, meetings, reunions and dinners. 

The third phase, which was completed in two parts, consisted of the full refurbishment of the Club’s Carisbrooke Hall which can seat 300 for conferences or 180 for dinner. The final element was to re-develop the foyer into the Carisbrooke Hall to improve access for the less mobile.

As a registered charity, the VSC is committed to meeting its charitable objectives which are achieved by delivering excellent value, excellent service and exceptional courtesy to members and guests.

The VSC also offers respite and welfare breaks to recommended personnel who have suffered a significant welfare issue or injury while serving.

The breaks include a two-night stay at the VSC, breakfast, lunch and dinner and tickets to a top London attraction for all the family.
