Princess Royal opens new £77m state-of-the-art facilities for Army's military working dogs

Princess Anne has officially opened a £77 million veterinary and welfare centre for the Army's military working dogs at Kendrew Barracks in Cottesmore, Rutland.

During her visit, she watched Archer receive hydrotherapy, viewed a dummy dog being used for surgical training, viewed bite training and met Bobby the spaniel, who appeared rather less interested in the royal attention.

The new facilities for the 1st Military Working Dog Regiment include surgical suites, physiotherapy and hydrotherapy areas, plus new kennels designed around modern animal welfare standards.
