Queen praises 'inspirational' England after Euro 2022 win

The Queen has hailed England's historic Euro 2022 win as "an inspiration for girls and women" across the nation.
The England lionesses ended a 56-year wait for a World Cup or Euro victory, when a Chloe Kelly extra-time goal secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Germany in front of a sold-out Wembley Stadium.
In a message shared on the Royal Family Twitter account, the Queen sent her "warmest congratulations" and highlighted that the "significant achievement" went "far beyond the trophy".
The Queen's message said: "The Championships and your performance in them have rightly won praise.
"However, your success goes far beyond the trophy you have so deservedly earned. You have all set an example that will be an inspiration for girls and women today, and for future generations.
"It is my hope that you will be as proud of the impact you have had on your sport as you are of the result today."
In attendance at Wembley was a record crowd for any match in the history of the European Championships at 87,192.
The occasion started in military style as an all-female RAF crew led a flypast over the Wembley Stadium immediately after both national anthems and before the game kicked off.
A C-130 Hercules transport aircraft, crewed by three women, was flanked by two Typhoon fighter jets as they flew over the stadium for England's historic fixture.
The Duke of Cambridge, who is the president of the Football Association, presented Lionesses manager Sarina Wiegman and her side with their winners' medals.
Prince William also congratulated the team for their "sensational" win, tweeting: "An incredible win @lionesses and the whole nation couldn't be prouder of you all.
"Wonderful to see history in the making tonight at Wembley, congratulations! W."
The jubilation for the England women's triumph was shared across the nation by the military who all shared their pride in the team.
Former UKAF Football kitman and ex-RAF engineer Kev Fenner was a part of the team with the Lionesses.
