Ukraine urged to change tactics as Russia's Shahed drones become more deadly
Russia has been using Iranian Shahed 136 suicide drones since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
They're known in Russia as the Geran-2, or Geranium, but Russia has now been tweaking their design to make them more deadly.
The advancements include protected 16-channel satellite antennas, making the drones harder to jam, and a secondary navigation system that allows operators to track the drones in real time using mobile networks, even if the main navigation system is scrambled.

Their altitude has also doubled.
They used to fly at altitudes of 600 to 1,000 metres, but can now fly as high as 2,000 metres.
Ukrainian troops say it's become far harder to shoot these drones down.
