Army Officers Take On 4x4x48 Challenge

Two Army Captains are taking on a 48-hour running challenge to raise money for charity.
Captain Dan Russell and Captain Will Elliott will be completing a 4x4x48 running challenge in February, where they will run four miles every four hours for 48 hours wearing boots and body armour.
They are doing the challenge to raise money for MIND, a mental health charity, and ABF The Soldier’s Charity. Capt Dan Russell, explaining why they have chosen those charities, said:
“It's good to raise money for charities that do some great work that haven’t been able to do their normal fundraising events during lockdown.”
Starting at midday on February 11, the pair will aim to complete all of the runs by 8am on February 13.
With one run every four hours, they will have roughly two hours to re-energise by eating some food and having a quick sleep, before going out on the next run.
The challenge was created by American ex-Navy seal David Goggins during the first lockdown in 2020. Cpt Russell explained that he and Cpt Elliot put their own twist on the challenge. He said:
“Its not usually done in boots and body armour but when we decided to do it for charity we thought we’d put that bit of a spin on it and raise a bit more awareness.”
Dan has already shared a video on YouTube of the duo out for a practice run in the snow, and the event next month will be filmed and shared on there as well.
The challenge can also be followed on social media here and also via the two fundraising pages: MIND and ABF The Soldier's Charity
