Army quartermaster fraudster awaits his fate after stealing almost £1m from MOD

A Quartermaster Sergeant has been told he will be sent to prison after he admitted stealing almost £1m from the MOD.
Jed Charlot admitted one count of fraud at Salisbury Crown Court in Wiltshire and was released on bail until he is sentenced on 13 December.
An earlier hearing was told how he had abused his position of QMS by intending to make a personal gain of £900,000.
Charlot's offences took place between 1 December 2021 and 31 October 2022 at 6 Armoured Close Support Battalion REME in Tidworth.
Charlot, who lives with his wife and three children in Tidworth, is being removed from his Army accommodation as a result of the charge.
A Quartermaster Sergeant is responsible for supplies and stores in the military, and Judge Richard Parkes said the case was "very curious" and the court would need to know more.
He said: "I shall order a pre-sentence report to understand the background of this case to help with the course of sentence.
"You have surrendered your passport and you shouldn't apply for any travel documents. You know that it will be a custodial sentence.
"You are released on bail so that you can arrange the accommodation of your family after you are evicted from your Army accommodation."
The judge told Charlot: "You know that you're going to prison."
