Bahrain Base for Britain's Navy?
An MP has suggested Iran could be stirring up opposition to Britain's plans for a new permanent Royal Navy base in the middle east.
The deal agreed at the weekend will see both the UK and Bahrain paying to develop the Mina Salman port, where a new Forward Operating Base will be established. That's despite concerns being raised about human rights in the country.
Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee Sir Richard Ottoway has defended the plan to build Britain’s first permanent base there
Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond agreed the deal with the country at the weekend.
Matt Teale also spoke to Sir Richard on Forces TV and started by asking whether the deal would affect the UK's attitude to alleged human rights abuses in the country.
