The Cost of Britain's Military Interventions Revealed

The monetary cost of Britain’s military interventions since the Cold War has been laid bare. The Royal United Services Institute has calculated that £34.77 Billion has been spent on ten interventions during a time of relative peace. This equates to around £1,000 for every taxpayer in the country.

The future cost of future veteran care is almost as high at £30 Billion. The drawn out campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan were the most expensive during this period accounting for 84% of the total.

The findings are part of a major new study by RUSI’s Research Director Professor Malcolm Chalmers.
