Deepcut: Could Fresh Inquest End 20-Year Wait For Justice?

The long-awaited inquest in the death of a young soldier at Deepcut Barracks in Surrey starts today.

Private Cheryl James was 18 when she was found with a single bullet wound to her head in November 1995.

She was one of four soldiers who died at the Surrey barracks between 1995 and 2002 amid claims of bullying and abuse.

Her family has fought a long campaign to get a fresh hearing in to what happened.

A Ministry Of Defence spokesperson said:

"Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Private Cheryl James. The inquest will now be a matter for the Coroner, but we will of course continue to cooperate with and provide support to the Coroner where needed."

Kaija Larke will be in court for Forces TV throughout the inquest and has been looking back at the case so far.
