Family Banned From Leaving Ceramic Poppy on Uncle's War Grave
20 year-old Mike Elkins bought two ceramic poppies from the Tower of London to place at his Great Great Uncle's grave in Belgium when he visits next year. His Father emailed the Commonwealth War Graves Commission to see if this was okay.
He was told that he would not be allowed to place the Poppy on the grave. The Commission's policy is that permanent fixtures can deteriorate over time and detract from the consistant look of the memorial.
