Former Sandhurst commandant celebrated with honour at Windsor Castle investiture

The former Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst has become a Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath following an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle.
Major General Zachary Stenning was the commandant of the academy between August 2022 and October 2024.
The major general, who studied War Studies at King's College London, was given the honour in the King's Birthday Honours List in June this year.
During his time at Sandhurst, he highlighted leadership, integrity and international cooperation, leaving a mark at the historic academy.
He began his career with the Royal Engineers in 1995 before moving to the Green Howards the following year.
Throughout his illustrious career, he was deployed to former Yugoslavia, Iraq and Afghanistan.
He was Commanding Officer of 3rd Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment during Operation Herrick in Afghanistan in 2012.
It is not Maj Gen Stenning's first honour, as he was previously made an MBE in 2008 and an OBE in 2013.
An investiture ceremony is an event where the King or another member of the Royal Family hands over the honour to the recipient at one of the royal palaces, including Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
