Meet The Dogs Helping To Keep Our Armed Forces Safe

The role of military working dogs has changed over the last few years from being predominately seeking Improvised Explosive Devices in Afghanistan to being trained in a variety of different skills for a range of tasks.

A search dog sniffs out explosives in Afghanistan
With a nose that can seek out arms, explosives and intruders in a fraction of the time of a human search, military working dogs are a valuable asset.

And nature’s technology is certainly nothing to be sniffed at.

  • One search dog can check 200 vehicles a day
  • Dogs can search a vehicle in three minutes
  • It would take a three man team 15 minutes

More than 100 of those dogs are based in Germany where Forces TV went to meet some of them and their handlers.
