Soldiers have completed the Colonel's Review, the final rehearsal for the King's Birthday Parade, in central London.

Troops rehearsed on foot and on horseback at Horse Guards Parade ahead of Trooping the Colour, which is the biggest ceremonial event in the military calendar.

Number 9 Irish Guards will troop their colour at this year's parade, which celebrates the King's official birthday.

Ahead of the review, the Princess of Wales, Colonel of the Irish Guards, wrote a letter to the regiment apologising for her absence as she continues her treatment for cancer - and wishing them luck.
