Royal Engineers practise humanitarian water drills in Welsh river

Watch: Royal Engineers train in water purification methods in Welsh river.

The Royal Engineers have been testing a Combat Water Supply System in the River Monnow in South Wales.

Water is sucked out of the river and treated as it would be on operations or humanitarian missions where access to drinking water is limited or the supply is contaminated.

The system takes about an hour to set up and can then produce up to 1,800 litres (396 gallons) of water in an hour and store 5,000 litres (1,100 gallons) of purified water.
