UN in Afghanistan Humanitarian Appeal

The United Nations has appealed for $405 million to cover the humanitarian needs of the people in Afghanistan.

The annual appeal was made by U.N. humanitarian coordinator Mark Bowden.

He said nearly 8,000 Afghan civilians have been killed this year in the war against the Taliban - and more than 100,000 have been forced from their homes.

Simon Newton asked Forces TV reporter Charlotte Cross who is the worst affected.
