Veteran Bikers Gather To Remember Arnhem 70 Years On

Seventy years ago this week, Allied troops were launching the biggest airborne operation the world had ever seen.

More than ten thousand men of the UK's 1st Airborne Division landed by glider and parachute fifty miles behind German lines in occupied Holland.

The aim was to end the war in weeks but the Arnhem operation proved a disaster and remains the British Army's last major defeat in battle.

Tonight a special commemoration ceremony is taking place.

Among those who set off this week for Holland to commemorate the anniversary are a group of motorcyclists raising money through a sponsored ride for Forces charities.

Geoff Meade has been riding with them and reports on their arrival in Arnhem.
