The UK Commando Force has captured an incredible image of the Commando Memorial silhouetted by the Northern Lights.

Known as the aurora borealis, the picture shows the mix of coloured lights that filled the sky across Britain on the morning of 11 May.

The image, which was shared on social media, captured the beauty of the natural light display.

The Commando Memorial is a Category A listed monument in Lochaber in the Scottish Highlands.

It pay tribute to the members of the original Commando Forces that were raised during the Second World War.

It is located about a mile from Spean Bridge and overlooks the training areas of the Commando Training Depot that was established in 1942 at Achnacarry Castle.
