Culdrose Football Club Wins FA Award

Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose Football Club has been awarded this year’s prestigious Football Association Community Club of the Year Award for Cornwall. 

The presentation at Cornwall County Football Association Headquarters in Bodmin on Thursday 22^nd May was in recognition of the Club’s work within the Community through football in Cornwall.

“It was a fantastic opportunity for the County to recognise people who put so much time and effort into running clubs, without them grassroots football would not be what it is today!”, said Football Development Officer for Cornwall FA, Phil Cardew.

Chief Executive of Cornwall FA, Dawn Aberdeen said; “Our Community Awards evening was a celebration and an opportunity to say a really big thank-you to all our volunteers for the outstanding contribution they make on a regular basis to help and support real grassroots football in Cornwall.”

RNAS Culdrose Football Club is unique within the Royal Navy as it offers football for everyone from 5 years old to full senior level football. It runs 11 Youth and 2 Adult teams that due to its geographical location play in the regional civilian league structure.

 “We are very proud to be presented with this award in our first year as a FA Charter Standard Community Club,” said Lieutenant Commander Andrew Plenty, chairman of the Culdrose Club. “We will continue to look at ways to improve on our community links and maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all to play competitive football.”

The RNAS Culdrose FC are introducing a Ladies team next season and looks forward to this exciting new chapter in the club’s long and distinguished history with both the Royal Navy and the Cornish Football Association.
