Exercise Albanian Lion: The Floating Command Centre
HMS Bulwark is playing a pivotal role in Exercise Albanian Lion 2016, acting as the command centre whilst in the Adriatic.
She's the nation’s readiness amphibious assault ship and has been for the past 6 years.
That means Bulwark is primed and ready to respond to any crisis the UK wants her to, and be anywhere in the world, within 72 hours.
As part of the Joint Expeditionary Force Maritime or JEF M 16 deployment she, along with the rest of the amphibious task group, are proving their operating capability.
HMS Bulwark weighs 18,000 tonnes, she’s home to over 600 people and she’s the Royal Navy’s Fleet Amphibious Flagship.
She has a dock big enough for four large landing craft, a vehicle deck as well as two helipads.
HMS Bulwark is due back in the UK in time for Christmas unless diverted to a crisis.
