Fast jets fly off for Joint Warrior
Hawk Fast Jets from Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose have recently returned from exercising in Scotland, taking part in naval manoeuvres on Exercise Joint Warrior.
There was a certain buzz in the air at HMS Gannet, the Royal Navy’s search and rescue unit at Prestwick near Glasgow, as the Base played host to some rather nippy visitors.
Five Hawk jets from 736 Naval Air Squadron had flown in and made the Ayrshire site their home for the two week duration of JW14-2.
They were joined by an additional five Cobham Aviation Falcons Jets who were also involved in the major autumn exercise. In all over 50 aircrew and more than 100 engineers boosted the normally quiet HMS Gannet backwater to a rather busy place to be.
