Five Royal Navy Veterans Awarded France's Highest Honour

Five Royal Navy veterans have been recognised for their role in the D-Day landings.

The shipmates, all now over the age of 90, were awarded France's highest honour, the Legion d'Honneur, in a ceremony in Leicestershire.

It's part of France's commitment to recognise all those surviving members of British forces involved in the key operation in the Second World War.

Those involved in the wider campaigns to liberate France in 1944 are also eligible to receive the honour.
