HMS Biter Patrols River Mersey

The Commander of the Royal Navy in the North and Isle Of Man has gone on board one of his university training vessels to meet its new commanding officer.

Commodore Gary Doyle recently took over the post and was hosted on board HMS Biter, on the River Mersey.

The Commodore is responsible for all naval activity in the area, bounded by the River Mersey to the Humber line and up to the Scottish border and across the Irish sea to the Isle Of Man.

HMS Biter is staffed by a small permanent crew, augmented by university students gaining experience of command leadership and maritime skills.
