HMS Scott's crew have visited and cleaned Commonwealth war graves in the city of Funchal whilst alongside in Madeira.

Royal Navy's biggest survey ship took the opportunity on a "peaceful day" to pay their respects to sailors of the Royal and Merchant Navies.

Funchal British Cemetery contains three Commonwealth burials from the First World War and three from the Second World War, all seamen of the Royal or Merchant navies.

The ship shared images of the crew on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Scott, the Royal Navy's only deepwater survey ship, earlier this month completed a period conducting important trials, whilst also "making time to enjoy life at sea, including whole ship sports and a weekend BBQ hosted by the Senior Rates".

The ship is the largest survey vessel in Western Europe and the fifth largest ship in the Royal Navy.

She is the only vessel of her class and can remain at sea for 300 days thanks to her crew rotation system.
