The crew of HMS Spey have been visited by a guest of honour, witnessed incredible acts of nature and received the hospitality of Malyasia on the vessel's most recent deployment.

Royal Navy personnel on board the second-generation River Class Offshore Patrol Vessel landed in Port Klang on the western coast of the Southeast Asian country earlier this week.

HMS Spey posted on X: "Our inaugural visit to Malaysia. A busy 48 hours alongside Port Klang, working with our colleagues at the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur."

The crew were visited by the Rear Admiral Dato' Ee (Yee) Tai Peng of the Royal Malaysian Navy, who presented the ship with a commemorative crest.

Members of the RMN were also given a guided tour of the ship.

The crew presented their kit and equipment to their Malaysian counterparts, including weapons, body armour and fire-fighting equipment.

Both the UK and Malaysian sailors later enjoyed the incredible sunset and dramatic storms that were visible that evening from the deck.

HMS Spey added: "Guest of honour, Rear Admiral Dato'Ey (YEE) Tai Peng, Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) presented us with a commemorative crest.

"RMN 'Young Officers' enjoyed the evening sunset onboard during the RCD prior to returning for a ship tour the following day.

"The environment never ceases to provide us with a combination of both beauty and drama, often in the same day."
