The Royal Navy's field gun competition as a contest between teams from various Royal Navy commands, in which teams of sailors compete to transport a field gun and its equipment over and through a series of obstacles in the shortest time.

The Royal Tournament which hosted the Field Gun Race among many other events evolved during the early years of the 20th century, but does it have a place in the 21st? With technology taking the lead across all three services and beyond, are there resources to run it? Is there a demand? Would it keep its historic races and marches or try something new?
Beginning at the turn of the 19th century, the tournament was designed as a showcase of Britain's military power and prowess. It kept its place as a celebration of Britain's military displays from 1880 right through to the turn of the milennium in 1999.
A brief return to the stage for the military's finest hosted by ABF The Soldiers' Charity in 2010 lead to a four year run of annual events but ultimately the British Military Tournament could not make enough money to continue, so we pose the question:
