The Man Behind The Safe Arrival Of HMS Queen Elizabeth

As preparations for next year's arrival of the first of Britain's two new state of the art aircraft carriers in Portsmouth continue, one man is preparing to play a crucial role in her safe delivery.

HMS Queen Elizabeth is due to sail into port next spring.

Parts of the 65,000 tonne ship have already been handed over to the Royal Navy to allow the ship’s company to train in damage control including fire-fighting, flood and medical emergencies.

But when the largest ship ever built for the Royal Navy appears on the horizon next year, it'll be Chief Admiralty Pilot Tony Bannister ensuring getting her to a new specially prepared jetty goes without a hitch.
