Probe launched after heavy rain floods dining hall at Royal Navy's main base in Scotland

An investigation has been launched after rainwater poured into one of the canteens at His Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde.
A video posted on social media showed water streaming from the ceiling of the Junior Rates dining hall - some of it pooling on the floor.
It came after heavy rainfall on the west coast of Scotland – with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms after a period of warm weather over the weekend.
HMNB Clyde is home to the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet and is currently going through a period of expansion ahead of the new class of Dreadnoughts that will come into service.
The number of personnel is expected to increase by 40 per cent with over 1,000 new cabins being built at the base to accommodate them.
HMS Neptune – the shore establishment of the base – was opened in the late 1960s to accommodate the Resolution Polaris submarines – but has gone through redevelopment recently.
A spokesperson for the Royal Navy said: "We are currently investigating an issue in the Junior Rates dining hall at HMNB Clyde.
"In the meantime, alternative arrangements will be put in place to ensure normal service for those who need to use the facilities."
