Royal Navy To Replace Failing Warship Engines

The Royal Navy's most modern warships are to be fitted with new engines because they keep breaking down.

The six Type 45 Destroyers - which cost £1 billion each - are suffering "total electric failures".

The Ministry of Defence have admitted that there are reliability problems with the propulsion system.

They said it was considering ways to address reliability issues, including upgrading the ships' diesel generators.

The fleet of six vessels have been described as the most advanced destroyers in the world.
