Royal Navy Sailor Killed After Being Hit By Train

An inquest has opened into the death of Mark James Shores, who was killed after being hit by a train near Tiverton Parkway station. 

The 31-year-old sailor died of multiple injuries following the collision on June 6th.

Mr Shores has been based at HMS Drake, HM Dockyard, Plymouth.

Senior coroner, Dr Elizabeth Ann Earland, opened and adjourned the inquest into his death.

British Transport Police confirmed the death is not being treated a suspicious.

A full inquest will take place at a later date.
