Taking On Royal Marines On The Field

The Medics rugby team are currently medical students with Plymouth and Exeter universities.

But on November 8th they'll take on the Royal Marines in the annual medics rugby challenge.

The South-West based side are also looking for their first back-to-back win against the Commandos in the Plymouth Medics Rugby Challenge.

The charity match is a result of the war in Afghanistan, when Royal Navy Surgeon Commander Anthony Lambert, was faced with operating on marine after marine.

Many of those injured marines will be there, no doubt cheering on their comrades, 'the bootnecks'.

The game has already raised £120,000 for the Royal Marines Charity.

It's hoped another £20,000 will be added to the total from this year.
