Watch: Drone footage shows construction progress of HMS Cardiff
New drone footage shows the build progress of the Royal Navy's second Type 26 frigate that is being constructed in Glasgow.
The video above shows work being carried out on HMS Cardiff and the construction of a new giant BAE Systems build hall dubbed the 'Frigate Facility' which will be able to manufacture two ships side-by-side.
HMS Cardiff is one of eight City-class Type 26 frigates that will replace the Royal Navy's existing Type 23 fleet.
The anti-submarine vessels, which are 149 metres are in length, are set to begin entering service from the mid-2020s.
The 6,900-tonne frigates will have a top speed of 26+ knots and a range of 7,000 nautical miles.
The vessels will also be equipped with a Sea Ceptor anti-air defence missile system, a five-inch medium-calibre gun, Artisan 997 Medium Range Radar and towed array sonars.
In July, the forward and aft sections of HMS Cardiff were joined together at the BAE Systems shipyard in Govan, Glasgow.
