Battle Of Britain 75: Service Of Thanksgiving

Battle of Britain veterans have gathered at Westminster Abbey to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the conflict.

Three-quarters of a century ago the Luftwaffe were pushing to gain air superiority over the Royal Air Force.

More than 500 British service personnel died during the dogfights in the air.

The German failure was one of the turning points of World War Two, and prevented the Nazis from invading Britain.

The Prince of Wales was among dignitaries at the thanksgiving service, held in honour of "The Few" who gave their all to defend south-east England's skies.

The event ended with a flypast of Spitfires and Hurricanes over central London.
