A Final Farewell For the World's Last Flying Vulcan

Britain’s last airworthy Cold War Vulcan bomber has begun preparations for its final season flying this summer, after the decision to ground the aircraft at the end of the year.

The charity trust which operates the aircraft claims no amount of finance can save the distinctive delta-winged bomber from decommissioning.

As such the former RAF icon will be retired at the end of this summer's display.

"Sadly the aircraft is what's known as a safe-life design, she has a certain amount of flying that she can do and when you come to the end of that you have to stop."

Our reporter Hannah King was treated to a sneak preview of XH558's farewell routine.
