Lancaster Bombers Fly Together After 50 Years
Two Second World War Lancaster Bombers have flown together for the first time since the 1960s. The Battle of Britain's Memorial Flight Bomber took to the skies with its Canadian counterpart in a historic flight at RAF Coningsby.
They're the last two airworthy Lancasters in the world and were responsible for attacking the German dams in 1943. Around 7300 lancasters were built during the second world war. Most of those that survived have been scrapped.
Canada's Lancaster Vera was restored by a team of volunteers over eleven years. It flew with the Lancaster Thumper for just under an hour and will be taking part in 60 air shows across Britain over the next five weeks.
