Drama Down Under: UKAF men edge Aussie counterparts by one point in basketball classic

The UK Armed Forces men's and women's basketball teams have taken on the Australian Defence Force, as they embark on their latest tour Down Under.

The UKAF men won by a one-point thriller in what was a very back-and-forth clash against their Australian rivals.

UKAF were trailing behind by 15-17 after the first quarter before they swung the scoreline to a 26-21 lead before half-time.

The Australians fought back in the third quarter and the momentum seemed to be on their side with a 35-40 lead going into Q4.

But UKAF weren't going to go down without a fight and they clawed their way back to a 51-50 victory come full-time – a testament to the level of competitiveness that both the teams showed in their latest encounter.

In the women's game, UKAF were very much the hunters as the Australian Defence Force led the game throughout – building a 17-30 lead by the time they reached half-time.

UKAF fought hard to close the gap but they were eventually outshone by their Australian rivals, winning by a 19-point margin with a 37-58 victory at full-time.

A few days later, the two Forces clashed again as the Aussies did the double over UKAF winning the men's fixture 69-59 and the women's match 47-28.
