Migrants Treated For Smoke Inhalation After Fire In Cyprus

Several migrants have been treated for smoke inhalation after a fire at a camp near Dhekelia Garrison in Cyprus.

More than 100 migrants are being housed in a temporary transit facility within the Sovereign Base Areas after they landed at RAF Akrotiri nearly a fortnight ago.

A spokesman for the Sovereign Base Areas confirmed a small fire broke out around 10am and it was quickly extinguished.

Several people were treated for smoke inhalation and SBA authorities said there were no serious injuries.

Akrotiri is Britain's key military facility on the island and has been for the past 60 years.
