RAF Museum turns to augmented reality as it celebrates 50th birthday

The RAF Museum is celebrating its 50th year and is turning to modern methods to help keep visitors entertained.

This includes augmented reality, with visitors able to see how personnel would have served in historic aircraft like the Lancaster – and look through their eyes and even listen to their voices as they carry out bombing runs.

It comes as the RAF Museum also celebrates the granting of a Royal Charter from the late Queen and £750,000 in Lottery funding to develop its sister site in Cosford.

The video above shows the ingenious ways the museum is bringing the past to life through technology.
