Tough Conditions For Forces Skydivers

The UK Nationals are now recognised as the largest skydiving competition in the world. Last year over 70 teams turned up to compete at Skydive Hibaldstow in Lincolnshire.

This year turnout was hampered by the weather but two Royal Air Force teams and an Adjutant Generals Corps quartet from the Army came to compete.

The RAF are using the skills of an experienced skydiver. Parachute Jump Instructor Sgt Adey King works out of Brize Norton and competes with a civilian team.

Adey is part of a triple A team. That's the highest standard, they have to complete 10 jumps. The other categories, double A, single A and Rookie jump eight times.

The RAF Sports Parachute Association (RAFSPA) rookies are the Raptors. They only started skydiving a year ago. The RAFSPA Lightnings compete in the Double A class.
