25 Years Since Bletchley Park Was Saved From The Bulldozers

Bletchley Park is now famed as an integral Second World War site, a place where code-breakers helped Britain to win the war.

However back in 1991 Bletchley's fate was at risk and bulldozers were about to move in.

Bletchley Park played a crucial role in World War Two with civilian and military code-breakers, three-quarters of whom were women, working tirelessly to decipher German messages to give Britain the upper hand.

It's secrecy was paramount and everyone who worked there signed the official secrets act.

After the war Bletchley was used by various government departments.

But 25 years ago it was facing demolition.

Bletchley Park is now a thriving attraction, last year more than 250,000 visitors were welcomed through its gates.

With its future now secure its hoped many more will visit over the next 25 years and beyond.
