Bring Him Home: Campaign To Repatriate SAS Veteran

Friends of a former SAS soldier are trying to raise funds to get his body flown home from China.

Mr Truglia, who served in the SAS and Royal Marines, died falling from a helicopter during an abseil race in the country.

It's been reported that Steve had raised concerns that the helicopter would not be able to take the combined weight of both himself and the person he was racing against.

His former comrade Phil Tunnicliffe has said that it's not been possible to ascertain exactly what went wrong.

When he heard about his friend's death, Mr Tunnicliffe wrote on Facebook:
"I can't believe you are gone mate, a part of me just died. You were my best friend and brother for 36 years. It hasn't sunk in that I'll never see you again... One thing is certain I'll treasure the memories and never forget you."
Authorities in China have been assisting the repatriation effort, the Go Fund Me initiative for which has already earned over £20,000.

A spokesman for the Chinese government said:
"We have offered assistance to the family of a British national who has sadly died in Chongqing, China. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time."
As well as a history in the military Mr Truglia, was a stuntman in the James Bond films.

He is also credited in Saving Private Ryan and Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation.

The 54-year-old had received awards for parachuting and mountaineering, as well as holding the world record for the fastest 100m abseil.
