Concerns Over Military Not Having Their Say In EU Referendum

One-in-five members of the armed forces may not be able to have their say in the EU referendum according to the Armed Forces Continuous Attitude Survey.

Twenty percent of respondents said they weren’t registered to vote, or didn’t know.

The figures have improved since 2012, when it was one in three.

The number of British Army personnel registered to vote has increased from 60% in 2012 to 74% in 2016. However, they are still the least likely to be registered.

Twenty six percent of those not registered to vote cite a lack of interest in politics as the reason.

But the electoral commission says it’s not too late.

Service voters are able to register online until 7th June.
