To celebrate Armed Forces Day, thousands of serving personnel and veterans will be able to get a free hot breakfast at cafés in the supermarket chain Tesco across the UK.

On Sunday 28 June, the day after Armed Forces Day, all serving Armed Forces personnel, including around 159,000 Regulars and 32,000 Reservists, can present their MOD90 identification card at its cafés to get a range of food on offer as a "thank you for their service".

The items included in the giveaway are the breakfast, the vegan breakfast, the veggie breakfast, the bacon bap, sausage bap, egg bap, and the veggie bap.

The offer is available to thousands of veterans for a second year when they present a valid Veteran ID card

"Tesco has a long association with the Armed Forces, and we are proud to be the leading private sector employer of veterans in the UK, which we support through our thriving Armed Forces network," Ashwin Prasad, Tesco UK chief executive and executive sponsor of the Armed Forces Network, said.

"This Armed Forces Day, we are recognising those who serve and have served. Everyone loves a free breakfast, and it's a nice way of thanking them for their service."

Since 2022, Tesco has handed out more than 7,800 free breakfasts to recognise those who are in the UK's Armed Forces and veterans.

The offer is available at the cafes and coffee shops in the 335 Tesco stores.

"We take great pride in our connection with the Armed Forces and offering this small token of appreciation on Armed Forces Day is just one way that we're helping and recognising serving personnel and veterans," Sabrina Lungo, the Armed Forces Network chair at Tesco, said.

Last year, Tesco reaffirmed its commitment to the Armed Forces community by re-signing the Armed Forces Covenant and launching a three-year partnership with Help for Heroes, to support the wider veteran community.

Armed Forces Day takes place on the last Saturday of June each year, falling this year on 27 June.

It is a chance for the general public to show their support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, from currently serving personnel to service families, veterans and cadets.
