Family Lead Woodland Search For Corrie McKeague
RAF Airman Corrie McKeague has now been missing for 12 weeks.
He disappeared after a night out in Bury St Edmunds.
This weekend for the first time, his mother enlisted the help of the public to search an area of woodland called the King’s Forest, which lies between Barton Mills and Corrie's base, RAF Honnington.
A location which was chosen because it is where Corrie’s phone was last picked up by a telephone mast.
With the help of Suffolk and Lowland Search and Rescue, over 75 people, including 30 members of the public, all joined the search. Corrie's Mother, Nicola Urquhart, was very grateful for the public support:
"I did wonder, 12 weeks on, am I going to get that many people wanting to come out? It's cold, are people still going to want to come out and help? And... I don't know why I keep doubting, because yet again, the amount of people that have contacted me, hundreds of people have contacted me, saying that they want to come out and search".
The area searched was around 4 to 5 square miles and had not been searched by police due to a lack of substantial evidence.
No evidence was found during the search, but Mrs Urquhart has said the search for Corrie will continue.
