Former Fighter Pilot In Insane Wingsuit Stunt
We're getting increasingly used to seeing images and video of NATO jets intercepting massive aircraft such as Russian Tu-95 Bear and Tu-160 'White Swan' bombers.
Or witnessing the incredible close-flying formation flying of the likes of the RAF's Red Arrows. But in the skies over Dubai recently an unprecedented feat of flying was undertaken.
Former Swiss Air Force fighter pilot Yves Rossy, the pioneer behind the individual jet-powered wingsuit, and his skydiving friend Vincent Reffet took to the air to fly alongside the largest civilian passenger aircraft in the world.
Rossy, who has flown everything from Dassault Mirages to Hawker Hunters, is no stranger to such huge planes having also been a SwissAir Boeing 747 pilot.
In this instance, however, the jetmen swapped the comfort of the cockpit for the chance to fly with an Airbus A380 belonging to the Emirates Airline.
The flight was the culmination of a three-month project and was achieved with the Airbus aircraft being flown at 4,000ft in a meticulously planned holding pattern.
