France And UK Join Forces For Exercise Griffin Strike

British and French forces have been fully engaged in a major exercise to demonstrate military co-operation between the two countries.
Exercise Griffin Strike is the culmination of six years of work between the UK and French militaries, which aims to demonstrate their potential to deploy on operations as the 'Combined Joint Expeditionary Force'.
The Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force have all been involved.
Senior leaders from the Royal Air Force and French Air Force have spoken of their pride in their close co-operation as part of the exercise.
RAF Leeming, in North Yorkshire, has been hosting the first fully-integrated Anglo-French air exercise to be held at the station.
Eight RAF Typhoons and four French Rafale jets have teamed up for a series of scenarios covering the full spectrum of potential joint operations.
Over the past two days, Salisbury Plain has been hosting the land element of the exercise.
France's Premiere Regiment de Tirailleurs brought their Leclerc main battle tanks and VCBI fighting vehicles.
They are working alongside 3rd Battalion, Parachute Regiment (3 PARA), 2nd Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles (2 RGR), 1st Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment (1 YORKS) Warriors and the Challenger 2 Tanks of the The King's Royal Hussars.

With just the channel standing between the UK and France, geographically the countries are close.
