How To Deliver A Beer Like A German

Here's a novel way to deliver your pint.

Back in 1986 the German military wanted to show off their Leopard 2 main battle tank's fully stabilised main gun.

So in traditional style, they did it with a massive jug of beer (or 'stein') - see above.

The weapon stabilisation system gave the German Army high levels of accuracy even when driving the Leopard at speed over bumpy terrain - allowing them to use the tank to carry a beer without spilling a drop.

It also allowed the tank gun to stay level and locked on a target even when going up and down hills, or when the body of the vehicle was moving from side to side. See below for a demonstration of this capability...

A stabilised gun was definitely something to celebrate for the then-West German Army.

Prior to having this piece of kit it was possible to hit the wrong target, or even accidentally commit friendly fire, if for example the tank hit a ditch whilst firing.
